Designed specifically for artists, this workshop will explore where to identify potential collectors and how to cultivate buyers for your work. We will also review helpful techniques and best practices to encourage sales and build your list of clientele. Key topics include pricing, follow-up, first impressions and personal style. Participants are encouraged to bring and share their questions as we’ll be ending the workshop with a comprehensive Q&A session to address specific concerns and scenarios.

About the Facilitators:
Krista Scenna is an independent curator and gallery owner based in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her BA in Art History and Spanish from the University of Pennsylvania and her MA in Interdisciplinary Contemporary Art from the Draper Program at New York University. Krista has worked for the ICA in Philadelphia, the Queens Museum and the New Museum in various capacities. She was also the BRIC Rotunda 2010-11 Lori Ledis Curatorial Fellow. Past exhibitions include collaborations with BRIC, NURTUREart and Lesley Heller Workspace and site-specific exhibitions in alternative forums such The Old Stone House, DUMBO Arts Festival, SPRING/BREAK Art Show and the Cigar Factory, LLC. Krista also connects local emerging artists with new art buyers as the Co-Founder and owner of Ground Floor Gallery based in Park Slope, Brooklyn from 2013-2020. The gallery continues to operate as a virtual platform specializing in solo artist projects, commissions and art consulting for new collectors. Krista is a member of AWAD (the Association of Women Art Dealers) and a juror for the 11th Biennial Alexander Rutsch Award and Solo Exhibition for Painting. She is also the guest curator for the Ely Center for Contemporary Art Open Call 2021 Exhibition.
Peter Gynd is a fifth-generation artist, independent curator and former gallery director. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Peter has 10 years of experience in the New York art world curating exhibitions at galleries, art fairs and institutions, including a permanent exhibition at the Foundation Center New York and an acclaimed two-person presentation at SPRING/BREAK Art Show in 2015. From 2016-2020, Peter was the Director at Lesley Heller Gallery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side gallery neighborhood, producing exhibitions by world-renowned artists and up-and-coming stars. The gallery’s exhibitions were regularly featured in publications such as The New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, Sculpture Magazine and Hyperallergic. He has been a guest critic at The Art Students League, Residency Unlimited, Kunstraum, ChaNorth Artist Residency; a consultant at NYFA’s Doctors Hours; guest lecturer at Pratt Institute and LIU Post; and guest juror for numerous exhibitions. Peter combines his multi-faceted experience with a passion for arts education and engagement to offer a unique perspective into today's contemporary art world.
